Vietnam Airlines to increase flights between HCM City and Thailand
With this move, the national flag carrier will operate approximately 50 direct flights per week on routes connecting Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City with Bangkok.
Currently, Thailand is the destination with the highest seat capacity offered by Vietnam Airlines among its routes in Southeast Asia.
Increasing air connections between HCM City and Bangkok not only meets the growing travel demand but also contributes to promoting economic, cultural, and tourism exchanges, opening new cooperation opportunities, and affirming the position of the two cities as the economic and cultural hubs in the region.
Bamboo Airways to resume Thailand flights after 1-year hiatus
After Bamboo Airways’s annoucation, tickets are now available for purchase, it said in an announcement posted on its Facebook page.
The airline will conduct a daily return flight from November 26, departing Tan Son Nhat airport at 11:15 a.m. and Don Mueang airport at 2:00 p.m., respectively. Each flight will last about 1 hour and 40 minutes.. The event will mark the resumption of the airline’s regular international flight network after one year of restructuring, said Bamboo Airways CEO Luong Hoai Nam. The flights between the two countries’ capitals will provide a travel option for passengers, especially in the year-end travel season, he added.
Bamboo Airways had launched the HCMC-Bangkok and Hanoi-Bangkok routes in April 2022 and March 2023, respectively. To meet higher demands during year-end and Lunar New Year holidays, the airline plans to add two airplanes to its fleet by the end of this year. With such an addition, Bamboo Airways will consider increasing the frequencies on the existing routes and resuming flights to other domestic destinations such as Thanh Hoa and Phu Quoc and international destinations. Thailand has been a favorite destination for outbound Vietnamese travelers. In 2023, over one million tourists from Vietnam went to Thailand. Meanwhile, Vietnam is one of the top three most visited destinations by Thai visitors.
Bamboo Airways once operated an extensive flight network across Southeast Asia, Northeast Asia, Europe, and Australia. In October last year the carrier had suspended services to several destinations in Asia and Europe due to mounting debt and losses following a period of rapid expansion as well as the negative impact of the Covid pandemic and rising fuel prices.
